Technician Position at  Energy Efficiency Company in Portland

Evergreen Home Performance, headquartered in Rockland, has a new office/shop in Portland.  The company performs all aspects of the energy efficiency services for residential consumers, including energy audits and home performance evaluations, insulation and air sealing, and home performance retrofits.  Although Evergreen focuses primarily on residential energy efficiency, they also provide similar services to community and municipal buildingprojects to cut energy costs for those customers. Direct job seekers to http://www.evergreenyourhome.com to learn more about the company.

The company is committed to a diverse workforce and  is particularly interested in working with PJA to recruit Field Technicians.  The job description is attached.  Please note that the job description indicates the wage is $16-$20/hr (that is for a skilled technician).  An unskilled worker would likely start less, DOE) with intermittent raises during the training period based on performance.  Once trained the individual will likely be making $16/hr if they perform well.

The description indicates that that a person needs a driver’s license; if not, this would not disqualify someone for being considered.  The crew meets at their Portland office at 190 Riverside St.  For safety reasons, the ability to understand and speak English is critical.

They are interested in referrals who are interested in long-term career employment with them so referrals who are rooted to the area would be ideal because of the intense training that must occur.  (It is a lengthy, slow learning process…about a year to be fully trained… for individuals not educated in the energy efficiency industry).

Communication is paramount and occurs frequently in the small teams and with customers.  Someone with a background in engineering or construction might do well in this type of position.
